Talisman Tactics was galloping around. He went faster and faster and faster! For a Derby winner, he was fast! He leaped over a log. He rose up on his hind legs and whinied. He was free! But a groundhog hole lay ahead. He took no notice of it. He sruck out with his leg and it got stuck in the hole. His leg snapped and shattered and he fell down. He shrieked in pain.

jack was in the other paddock, just grazing. He saw Tactics go down, and hard. he heard the skreik break the quiet are. He trotted over to teh fence spereating them, he was able to jump over it, with adrenaline. He bolted over to teh bronc. Saw him on the ground. Breathing and sweating hard. He looked at the leg, it looked to be in one peice. He knew it wasn't though. He walked a few feet away, and reared wildly, with his mane flowing in te find, he kicked the air, screeming for people to come. He came back down and went to the stags face You'll be ok....the humans will help. They helped me

The humans came and examined his leg. It was completely shattered. They said he would survive, but his leg would have to be amputated from the forearm down. He would have to have a new prosthethic leg. Talisman was dark with sweat. For the first time in a long time, he was scared.

A few weeks later, Talisman slowly walked around with his new fake leg. It was wierd. The doctors said he could never do more than trot with it. No more galloping. He thought, [glow=red,2,300]Better for me to be put down than to limp around with this thing.[/glow] But he changed his mind. He loved his life and he wouldn't have it any other way.

"I know," he returned, "but we all have to make sacrifices in this life." He lifted a single pillar and his obsidian shone brightly. His orbs met the other stallion's and his auds popped up. "I'll be fine," he reassured.

Jack jerked his head back. What a blessing you have then! he said as he backed off, and went to graze.

Talisman shook his tresses. He could still trot. So he trotted around the terrain, his tresses flying. He still felt free.

Jack laughed. Being the show boat he is, he cantered around the paddock. See what you are missing? he said.
