The horses entered the paddock. Halfbridled looked around, at the people watching her. She was curious what was going on. It was her first race. She had walked around here before, but not with people around! She was on her toes noen teh less. She didn't know what was going on, but was excited. She over heard the other fillies saying "I bet I'll beat you today!" to one another. Beat her? what does she mean? Ad she was being saddled, she noticed a weird saddle go on her back. It was smaller than she'd ever seen. And has a large, orange and black 7 on the cloth. Well this is odd.... she thought to herself.

Meanwhile, Skye Conqueror stepped in as #9. She was a longshot at 50-1. She had finshed dead last in her last race. She wasn't very sure of herself. Then she saw other fillies and trotted off to join them. But they pushed her away, so she stood with her handler alone.

Bridled looked over and saw the filly with little excitment. How was this NOT exciting? Maybe this wasn't fun. As she started walking around, she asked the filly "Why are you so down in the dumps?"

Bridled tilted her head "Tired?" she blurted "How could you be tired!? This is amazing!" She said as she looked around at teh smileying kids, the group of crazed betters, ect. She was in awe. This many eyes have never been on her, human or animal.

"Its just that nobody believes in me. They never did. If I don't do well in this race they'll put me in a claming race. I'm a failure in their eyes." She shook her head and stretched her legs. "But I'll try as hard as I can today. I'll pull out the 80 dollar win ticket."

Bridled smiled "I think you can win. Have you seen the competition, its all us!" she said with a laugh. She was still young, and had no idea what a race was. but acted like she knew it all.

Then, Skye's ears pricked up at the sound of the bugles calling the horses to post. "Well thats our cue. Come on!"

Bridled got a little eager when the rider mounted her. But, it was Julie Krone, he had soft hands making her feel better. As she stepped on the track, it was like a wall. TTwo totaly differant places. She looked back and saw Skye just walking. Bridled relaxed a bit. Julie took her feet out of the irons. Bridled was excited for a first race!

Bridled stoped and looked back, ignoring Julies commands. she held her head high, and said "Why thank you!" They came to the gate. Bridled has been in them. Now with 9 horses before though. She stoped in her tacks, and refised to move.

Skye saw the filly. "Don't worry. It might be new, but it's not bad. Just go in and in seconds it'll be over."
