Fire Dancer was looking for a stud. Any stud. She hadn't had a foal since three years ago. She wanted to be a mom again. She just wanted to breed with ANY stallion.

Boston was being led through the mare barn, as part of his daily routine. He was never very interested in any of these mares, but today, Fire Dancer caught his eye. His groom left for a moment, leaving him tied near her stall. "Is something wrong, M'lady?"

"I haven't bred since four years ago. If you want to breed with me, get it over with, then."

The stag tilted his head. The mare seemed like she hadn't any pride left. "Not on such notice. I don't even know you. I wouldn't dare breed a mare without knowing them." Although he was a rather decent racing stallion, he was never forced to breed mares. If he refused, his owners allowed it. No one ever had to pay, so that was probably why.

Dancer read his mind. "You're right, I have no pride left. But if you must know me, my name is Fire Dancer and I was third in the Kentucky Oaks."

He smiled, nickering slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Fire Dancer. I am dubbed Boston Masquerade, but I'd prefer it if you called me Boston. Congradulations on your placing in the Kentucky Oaks." He spoke in a friendly manner, bowing his head slightly in respect.

"Thank you. You are a gentleman, compared to that ruffian Jack In The Box."

He chuckled lightly, "He can be a bully at times, I've heard." He said, smiling at her. "I'm not very fond of him myself."

"Yeah, well, he is a rough stag." She shivered. "I know that for a fact."

"I'm sorry you've had the misfortune of meeting him." He said, lowering his head slightly. He strongly disliked this stag for being so rough with mares. He, himself, was rather gentle, since he didn't like the idea of force breeding.

Dancer twitched her ears. "Well, looks like the folks are taking me for a walk aorund the paddock. Bye Boson. See you again."

His smile faltered as his groom came to take him as well. "Perhaps our grooms will take us together... If I'm lucky." He spoke, looking hopeful. He quickly nuzzled her before his groom could pull him away.

"Maybe." But the groom took her away.

Boston pinned his ears, tossing his head. He half-reared, wanting to continue his chat with her. He whinnied, several grooms darting toward him. His rope was loosening, although he took no notice. His chocolate eyes continued watching her, although he still had no intention of breeding her yet.

"I'm sorry Boston. I'll see you soon." But she still had four feet planted firmly on the ground. She did not want to go either.
